Sequence 2: Shots of Movement & Details

1. A Dog Shaking Off Water

  • Tripod or handheld (for a looser feel)
  • Use slow motion (60fps or higher) for water spray details
  • Shoot wide open (f/2) for dreamy bokeh
  • Focus on dog's head or body mid-action, shoot from the side
  • Shutter Speed: 1/120 (60fps or higher for slow motion)

2. Waves Splashing Against Rocks

  • Tripod, locked-off shot
  • Use ND filter and slower shutter for silky look, or 1/1000+ for frozen spray
  • Compose with rocks in bottom third, splash in middle
  • Shutter Speed: 1/500 (or faster for frozen spray, no ND filter)

3. Someone Eating Chips / Gull Trying to Steal Them

  • Handheld or tripod, off-center for candid feel
  • Focus on hands and food, sea/sky out of focus
  • Shoot wide open at f/2 for background blur
  • Slow zoom or rack focus from chips to face/gull
  • Shutter Speed: 1/250 (for a nice balance of motion blur)

4. A Discarded Takeaway Cup in the Sand

  • Tripod or low handheld for intimacy
  • Shoot low to ground, focus tight on cup at f/2–f/2.8
  • Include shadows, footprints, or seaweed for context
  • Optional slow push-in or drift
  • Shutter Speed: 1/250 (standard for handheld shots)

5. Ferris Wheel Turning

  • Tripod from a distance
  • Frame centered or off-center
  • Use medium focal distance to separate from background
  • Time-lapse works well if motion is slow
  • Shutter Speed: 1/500 (freeze motion)

6. Feet Walking Past in Fast Motion

  • Tripod, low angle
  • Point camera at where feet will pass
  • Lock focus manually
  • Shoot video for speed-up or stills for time-lapse
  • Overlapping feet or shadows look great
  • Shutter Speed: 1/500 (freeze motion or use slower for blur)
